In December 1950 18 graduates of the U.S. Navy School of Music reported aboard the mighty battleship U.S.S. New Jersey BB62 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where she was recommissioned for action in The Korean War.  Eighteen months and over 60,000 sea miles later they would each be reassigned to Navy shore bands across the country. Not only would this group become one of the finest bands in the worldwide fleet but they would also man their duty stations on 5" gun mounts and 40 mm open quads during bombardment and fire fights along the Korean Coast. They became one of the best liked and respected bands by the 2000 plus man crew ever to sail the seas in modern time.  This is their story.
